RyanSpaulding
Where is this script/utility? How well does it work? And also, will it work on say...XFrog trees? I'm getting crazy long render times for the trees right now if I just import them.
Chad Warner
If you right click on the display, the second to last option on the quad is "vray scene converter." I have used it with xfrog trees, the only catch is is that it won't reuse the opacity map from the standard material, so you have to manually put those in. gfa2
If you are using max, then you right click in the screen area and the vray scripts will be at the bottom of the quad menu that pops up. I've never used the scene converter, but the vray mesh export does a real nice job of proxying (is that a word??) complex meshes so that you don't run out of memory during render time. You might try bringing in one tree, then make a vray mesh out of it, then instance it and then scale and rotate the instances so they don't all look the same. You can make a forest this way with one tree and they'll all look a little different. ...Looks like Chad beat me to the reply.
RyanSpaulding
Ah. Well, I'm very young into this VRay thing...and I haven't even broached the subject of proxies yet. I know they help with memory during render time...but thats ALL I know so far (it's probably in the manual but I learn WAY better when shown something than a book). I just ran through my Gnomon Exteriors DVD (amazing btw) and am just starting to apply my knowledge to a model I've been doing...but it's mostly been just tests so far. Thanks for the replies guys!
