Craig Ramsay
I take it you are using backburner to render your animation? What error do you get?
jafs00
is the networrk setup correctly?
Sketchrender
I am not using backburner, I am using the vray standard one . Should I be ? I am not getting an error , it is just not render the buckets all the time . It worked with two machines in the end, and then left out a parts of the model, strange a lot of photshopping afterwards required. So what do you think. phil
tdarcy
Hi Philip, The light cache has to be calculated by one machine only and then saved on to the network were all the machines can find the file and then contribute to the final rendering. Cheers TD
Clifton Santiago
2 options: 1) Assuming IR/LC, check radio button for "Do not render final image" under global switches rollout. Save both IR and LC to files. Make sure file path is UNC. Send to single machine on farm and name it something like "File01a" Next, uncheck "Do not render final image". In IR and LC rollouts, specify render from file pointing to the IR and LC that will be saved by previous pass. Be sure and save this pass, and verify UNC. Name it something like "File01b", and in backburner make sure it is dependent on the completion of "File01a". Select split scanlines and use all servers. 2) Basically the same as one, but this time on your second, image pass, instead of rendering LC from file, just say no secondary bounces. It will give the same results as above. The reason this works is because LC is actually saved with the IR map.
Scott Schroeder
Backburner is the network rendering service. If I'm not mistaken, Vray doesn't have any network rendering service like backburner as backburner works very well with Vray given the following. To successfully network render you first must set up a manager computer, this needs to run the backburner manager application. On any other computer that you wish you use in network rendering you must run the backburner service app. This connects to the manager and communicates with the manager to see what jobs to render. You also need to make sure that every computer can access all of the images, xrefs, maps, etc that you are using in your render. In short, if you have any other concerns with network rendering and backburner have a look at this: http://www.3dv.com/images/down_on_the_farm.pdf#search='gary%20davis%20rendering' It's a paper called "Down on the Farm" written by Gary Davis. I've attended his backburner classes at Siggraph and he pretty much covers anything you've ever wanted to know about network rendering in this paper. Sketchrender
vary dose have it's network rendering , and it is recomended that we use it. it works very well when it dose work, i think it was all to do with the file not being located on the server. phil
Scott Schroeder
We may be thinking of two different things here. Are you referring to distributed rendering with Vray or single frame (1 full frame per computer) with Vray using backburner?
