Ricardo Eloy
Hello all! I have a 3dmf file I want to import into 3ds max. Unfortunatelly, I just can't find a converter for that. Does anybody know a way to import it so I can use the mesh in 3ds max? Thanks!
BrianKitts
form_z can open 3dmf files..... then you can save it out in pretty much any format from there.
Ricardo Eloy
Thank you Brian and Danny for the kind replies! After some searching I found that the demo of Polytrans could do that. Of course, as written in their website, the demo version kind of deletes every 5th polygon, generating a mesh full of holes (swiss cheese full, I mean). But, since I also wanted to have more control over the resulting mesh, I used the imported geometry as a base to re-model the house myself. Out of curiosity, I'm doing this because I thought it would be nice to use famous buildings to teach lighting, texturing and other stuff in my new CG course, so I downloaded Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water House model from GreatBuildings.com. Having the 3dmf file, I could export it to 3ds max as .3ds and started re-modeling it. It took me about 2 hours to remodel it, but now I have the FWHouse complete, poly-modeled and ready to work (I just have to re-model the terrain, but that's not really hard). After it's completed, I'll show you guys the final result. Thank you once again for the prompt PM's!
