Macintosh Pro dual xeon

Recommended Posts

Is someone running or testing 3d max on the new macpro dual xeon running bootcamp?

I'm planning to purchase a new Machine for 3D max, I do graphic design on macintosh and use 3d max on pc. Buying one machine for both would be great but I don't know if the new mac pro would performe for 3d max running boot camp.

Any tester out there with good advise?

Thanks!!!

I've got Viz on a Macbook Pro, no problem. I've heard varied reports on Max, but there are at least some people out there doing it. The problem as I see it is a lack of testing of Bootcamp on the Mac Pro, or anything about XP 64 on it.

The unavailable drivers are for fairly minor stuff - the webcam, glowing keyboard, ambient light sensor, remote control and hard drive motion sensor. Presumably most of this will get sorted out when Bootcamp goes full release, but I don't really miss it. The real annoyances are the trackpad only having one button (I use a mouse) and the keyboard differences (I made some mapping changes with Keytweak). Some people like to run Rightmark CPU Utility, but I don't recommend it - it gives you manual control of Speedstep, but I had an issue with the battery capacity being incorrectly identified that gave me a minor headache.
