erickdt
I am having serious issues rendering with VRay. I am doing a relatively simple scene at a low resolution (800x600) and it is taking insanely long to render (in excess of 30 minutes). I need to render 4 different views of this scene as well as 4 of another similar scene by tomorrow. I dont know if its my ir map settings or what (btw the settings are the low preset with 30/20. Irradiance map is the first bounce light cache is second, the noise threshold in qmc sampler is .01). Someone please help me!!!!!

erickdt
I'm not sure where can I find the glossiness setting?
mikegeng
i think it is in the material editor, when you use the VRayMtl, it appears below the Reflect and the Refract, the default value is 1.
erickdt
Oh... I know what you mean now. I have several different materials with a variety of different levels of glossiness or no glossiness at all. None of the subdivisions for that glossiness are higher than 8. corwin
If your using alot of glossy materials go with adaptive qmc antialiasing ( i usually set at 1/3 for testing), adaptive subdiv can take forever with lots of glossys. hope this helps. bayvan
Another thing that should help for the glosy is to turn on use light cashe for glosy rays in the light cashe rollout. Best regards, bayvan
