Kassner
Hello everyone, This is my first post (MAX 5 and FR). No lights. Only a self illuminated material and HDRI as background. PS: This work is based on "Tobias Dahlen" image. Just learning lightning technics and FR settings.

DelfoZ
nice pic, Pc,render time ,settings, ? all seems nice exept the TV, seems like a paint or poster ,
Tony
Nice image, except the tv does need some attention, as delfoZ said. The reflection on the floor looks very good to me, suttle blurry reflections are just right. The colors also look nice, I like that shade of red. Are the windows frosted? If not, you should add an exterior scene to finish off the image. Good work! Give us some details!!
nisus
Very nice! I like the simulation of the waxed floor. I had to look very closely to find the tv that the other memebrs were talking about... couldn't recognise it, but I didn't care. Just wandering why people have three differnt sized bins... rgds! nisus
ingo
>>Just wandering why people have three differnt sized bins... rgds! and why do they buy the same CD's five times Otherwise nice picture, despite the wet floor.
mbr
Very nice image. What are your settings in fR (esp. the blurry reflections)? All the other tech info would be nice, too.
Kassner
Specs: AMD 1600+ 512RAM Render Time: 00:18:55 Image Output: 1280 x 720 px -------------------------------------------- RH: 300 Min. Density: 5 Max. Density: 50 Diffuse Depth: 5 No lights. (only one off omini to disable Max's default lighting) HDRI as background (beach probe.hdr - Paul E. Debevec's site) Glass (windows): Self Illuminated Material 90% This material give me room major light allowed with HDRI background as non-uniform light distribution. The scene has two small openings for HDRI lighting besides the windows. Is completely diferent when you illuminate a scene with panels lights source mixed with HDRI. "The result is more realistic than other methods of generating global illumination, and the amount of light can be altered through the exposure settings." The wood floor reflection is FR material with high specular level and glossiness with few samples of refl. level. Advanced fresnel option actived and blurring reflection (0.5). Refl. Level: 50% Min. Smp: 01 Max. Smp: 04 I have to increase the "GI send multiplier" option of some materials. The windows are not frosted but I can't add an exterior scene with glasses as self illuminated material only in post-production. The other problem that I can't see sun rays and shadows though glasses with FR material. I know! I'm not so proud of my TV. It's simple plane with sony´s website bitmap applied. huhhgh! :gebigeek: I´m sorry for take so long to answer but I think Brazil has different time zone. Thanks for all advices. Paul Griger
Kassner, Very nice image, well worth the wait. The lighting looks fabulous, a self luminant material and a HDRI. I wish I had as easy of a time with my lighting on my project in C4D I too would like to know the hardware and times. If I had to nitpick, I would say the concrete wall texture looks too bumpy if it was poured into BCX plywood forms. The AA on the chrome chair legs could use some attention, but maybe you had to post a lower res pic for the web. And the duplicate CD’s and books are readily evident But you did say that this was alighting test, so I say it is a success for you! Looking FWD to future work from you Best, Paul

Just select ur Glass-Objet goto OBJET PROPETIES / disable VISIBLE TO CAMERA. and Done, The light produced by the glass keep in the scene, try it. 2.-if u want sun in the interior, Select ur light source (sun) and exclude the Glass-Objet,and done... Kassner
Great idea, but what about reflection? A glass might allow: 1. Transparency  2. Reflections 3. Refractions I remember something about glasses and reflections in the samples scenes. I'll check this.
sergio rocha
you could try using only hdri(increasing rgb output level) and a max raytracing mat. it´s very nice
Kassner
How could I forget that? Although we use FR, we can use MAX's standard and raytrace materials... Thanks! I'll try this and post a new rendering.
