Aerial Photographs for Rendering Condos

We are generating several renderings for multiple unit types on a 16 story condo tower in Portland, OR. The idea has come up to take 360 degree photos at the eye level of the 5th floor, and the 16th floor.......either through a crane, or a remote controlled balloon.

Has anyone had any experience in this, and perhaps can suggest a company to do this?

If you get the chance, do it yourself!

I had the opportunity to do exactly this for a 4th, 8th and 23rd story apartment (not for rendering, but an interactive DVD), and it was the best experience.

Also depends on your aptitude with a camera I guess? But yeah, if you can...DO IT!

I would always prefer to have the hand in the photos that I have to comp into renderings, it just makes it easier in the end if you have no one other than yourself to blame if your set up is abunch of horibble shots and framing. My last boss couldn't hold a camera straight I wanted to boot kick him everytime he came back and said I got some great shots.

So I vote with Ky.... try to do it yourself. Although on the other hand the remote control balloon idea sounds pretty fun.... have you actually found a company that does that, or is that an idea you guys had?

Ive seen the balloons here, and had the chance to see one up close. Had a Canon EOS fixed to it, then they jut let the baloog go up off some fishing line (1. to hold it in place and 2. so they know how high it is), position it, then make it rotate slowly and let the canon fill up a 1Gb flash card, bring it down, download and repeat.

Was very cool to watch.
