Chamfer edges of a polygon

I have read that it is a good idea to create a slight chamfered edge to walls since there is no such thing as a razor sharp perfect edge in the real world. My question is how do I add a chamfer to the edge of a polygon?

 

Do I select the vertices? What modifier to add? Is there a script out there that does it?

 

Any help would be greatly aapreteated.

select edges that you want chamfered...use chamfer button from menu on right side of screen..adjust either manually or numerically . Read max help files on subject "chamfer" for further information
