Paul Griger
Couldn't find a thread on this after using the Search feature, so my apologies if this has already been posted. http://www.fbdthemovie.com/trailer.html Interesting movie for a few reasons: the CG.Utopian conceptsArchitecture stylethe manI never heard of Jacque Fresco, but he appears to be a fascinating fellow. Crazy Homeless Guy
it does look interesting, though i think drawing parallels to DaVinci may be a bit much. parallels to Buckminister Fuller may be better, but i don't know a lot about him. i did a quick search for an old thread that i remember, but i couldn't find it. if memory serves, it had something to do with Syd Mead's work. i had added a link to the thread for Arthur Radeburgh's work, which dealt with illustrating the future. a selection of Radeburgh's illustrations are below. i think he produced work from 1930 to 1960, which is evident in the illustrations. . William Alexander
While Fresco concepts and vision is very interesting....the art work-style almost seems to fit the 40-50's feel that many aspired to. A genre. Most of this reminds me of Popular science illustrations and has a 'Moonraker' feeling to it. Maybe because fresco founding revel plastics, is the same "REVEL" as in the models I built way back when, like the MoonRaker shuttle craft. Soeleri (sic) is another future urbanist to add to Fuller and the likes. Many of the same overall general concepts and styles, imho. Maybe a bit more contemporary with green concepts. Certianly this group of designers from the 30-50's+ have had a great influence on concept and style. Personally I really like the specialized heavy equipment for creating and assembling the structures. Almost more intersting than the structures themselves...but I think a structure under construction is always more intersting than the end result
