eoghan
Hi - I have a problem exporting survey points in ACAD. When i survey something i bring the points into autocad. Once in there i need to export them in some 3d format (3ds, dxf) so i can bring them into my 3d package(cinema 4d). however because there are just points and not polygons i cant seem to open them in any other program ( i have nugraf also). is there any way to turn these points into objects. its highly frustrating at the moment because i have to bring them into c4d through illustrator and i lose all my height values. any thoughts!!! ovzoc
The only thing that comes in my mind is this : Make blocks (lets say a triangle) and insert the point inside, or just a small block in the coordinates you want... Generally when it comes to exporting points I am using a block...
neko
just a thought - but if you are familiar with illustrator, why not change the PDMODE in autocad to something other than '0' (try '3' to make an X) when you open the drawing file in illustrator, all your points should come in as an X. from illustrator, you can then save it back as a new drawing file.....should work ???? cheers
eoghan
But i still lose all my height value when its brought into illustrator - i.e. i have x and z values but all the points will be the same y values.
neko
let me think on that one for a day or two - autocad and illustrator are my two favorite programs to export/import too......
eoghan
just an update. just joined the points up with a 3d surface and was able to export the polygons with the points in them. so all is good!
