RyanSpaulding
I'm launching into my first 3d site plan. Any tips on texture maps I should be using? I heard you may want to use a less detailed grass and concrete texture...any other tips/tuts you guys can direct me to? I'd fiddle around a bunch but I have a site plan and 2 hotel renderings to complete in one week and don't have a great amount of time to play. William Alexander
L.O.D, my friend ...find reference images (real world pictures) that match the general views and heights of yours. Study them for level of detial for things like grass, ashaplt...you'll be amazed how much of that can be done procedurally and or with very minimal image maps if you have a good feel for the threshold that makes the L.O.D 'just believable' enough. Of course posting wips will help too.
