AJLynn
I'd start by studying architectural design, and worry about the CAD part later. What point are you at in your education/career? Are you looking to go to architecture school and become an architect? Change careers and be a draftsman or 3D guy? Just a hobbyist? ...
JamesTaylor
Andrew's point are extremely valid and by answering them you'll open up your question much further and i'd iimagine get a much better responce... however, to directly answer your question in respect of CAD i would recommend looking at AutoCAD as this is almost industry standard for architects and a lot of us 3d guys, along side that i would keep a good eye on Revit or a similar BIM style program as i imagine this will be the next generation of working methodology. in terms of rendering, animating and texturing etc there are a no.of options of which i'd say max / viz are the most common, also alot of people are using cinema 4D Answer Andrew's questions tho....
