purple3d
Hi all, Been trying to put together a vray scene for an exterior, Just cant seem to get enough detail where i want it to go. Been following the gnomon exterior tutorial, but really arnt getting the results i want. I'm a lightwave users who's been using max now for the last month so used to just using fprime putting a skydome in adding a gradient to that, putting up the bounces and intensity and getting a nice render ! So vray with all of its options gets a little complex. The scene isnt textured yet. Was hoping just for a WIP render. Ive attached an image, which ive used with irradiance map on as the primary bounce. There are no lights in the scene, as everytime a light has been put in the scene washes its self out even with the light turned down low. Any suggestions to which route i should be going down to light this scene would be most helpful !
Ky Lane
Have you turned off default lights? Tried turning down the environment map?
FlytE
make sure your exposure control is off? Go to Render/Environment and halfway down uncheck exposure control (also select 'no exposure control' from the drop down menu - just to make sure )

RodT
you'll want to add a vray plane it will give you some light bounces
moneyShot
You could try changing your Colour Mapping settings from 'Linear Multiply' to 'Exponential'.
shaneis
The OP was made in 2006. I'd say he's either figured it out by now or given up entirely.
