Make sure every object is a 3d object and then aply a solid fill in vector works prior to export . Colour is not important as long as the object has a solid fill. Set units to meters. I do all this when exporting dxf files to Lightwave and It works very well, it may work with 3dmax. New Vectorworks 12.5 has a .3ds exporter, is that what you are using?. DXF may be an alternative. jafs00
never ever ever ever, I cannot express in words the importance of this, never use the vectorworks wall tool for modelling or if you plan to export plans to DWG If your 3d model was made using the wall tool, you'll have to make it again. opay
hello, thx for response. i use vectorworks 11, jafs00 : did u mean dxf or dwg??? i try to export my modell to dxf ( i still use wall tools for wall object) and ussually this works when i opened it with c4d, but when i opened at 3dmax, many poligon is missing, wall is ok, but glass and many poligon is missing... guess i will try to use object to make a wall... have any different idea for this??? many thx before
Matt Clementson
You may find that the polygons aren't missing but simply flipped - forcing a 2-sided render or applying a 2-sided material will confirm/deny this. The better way to fix this is to spend some time in the edit-mesh modifier flipping the errant faces but the 2-sided thing will give you a quick fix.
