hello guys,

thank you for ur previous comments...I dont know wether this is going to be something impressive to u guys, but boy...I finally got the lights on!

I know...the models are somehow look too TOY-ish, and I was busy adjusting the lights emitter, so no time to adjust the models though...Any other tips to make this a little real kinda look?

platform: sketchup & maxwell

render time: 30 mins

yeah...i directly apply the emitter to the shader lamp. I dont remember the Watt's figure, but the efficiency is around 25....

Strat fan? i have no idea about that...an admirable person?

Anyway, i guess the grains can only be fixed by spending a lot more time on rendering it...instead of spending only 30 mins, i guess i hafta spend an hour just for a good quality picture. bluerghhh~

1 more, is it possible to get a realistic look from sketchup and maxwell? coz i know...we gotta admit, using 3dsmax and maxwell will give a really good yet satisfying result. But what about skp? they cant do that? do u guys have any work examples, url maybe?:D

You should be able to get similar quality from Sketchup - I haven't used the plugin in a loooong time, it was pretty bad a year ago but I hear it's improved some, and at the least you can export the MXS or 3DS and import into Studio to work more.

Grain resolving is a huge problem. 1 hour is a very conservative estimate for an interior. The more complex your materials, the more time it takes. The more the scene relies on bounced light, the longer it takes. Some scene will take days to render.

I was doing an exterior today and spending 2 hours per render, at 1600x1000. A sunlit exterior is usually the fastest thing for Maxwell and architecture, the scene was really simple (the project is in design so I haven't done anything complicated with the graphics yet, just what I need to see in designing) and the computer was my Core Duo 2.16, which is equivalent to a dual Xeon 3.6 with 2 gigs of RAM.

ahahah..got that from the 3dwarehouse. My bad bro...my bad, i didnt really concentrate adjusting the model....the results? yeah, bad 'clay' type models...too lambert. they shud shine more right?

anyway, Id really appreciate it if u guys can send me some good works of urs, especially the ones using skp and maxwell...coz 3d max needs quite some time to master it, skp is easy....interior models are always waiting to be downloaded...:p

thank you for the good words and i feel great coz at least, i got good comments evendo they arent that good enuff to compare with other profesionals...

STP = Standard Temperature and Pressure, e.g. 0 degrees C and 1 bar air pressure. It's generally used in chemistry as a baseline assumption, and it's assumed in Maxwell unless you reconfigure the environment settings in Studio, which is necessary if you want to render scenes in summer or at high altitude. Don't forget to set you air's IOR=1 for scenes in Earth atmosphere.

ooo...okay,

i have realized, that the more posts i got from u guys, the more stupider i feel...but thats okay, its about learning right?

anyway, about the STP thingy, where to set it? is it in SKP maxwell plugin or just an information about one of those messy columns in maxwell studio? coz, i never seen any about STP in studio so far...im not sure with SKP though, does it has to do with HDRI too?

okay...soo, there you go!:D

im currently under a project with bungalows in sketchup, and i cant wait to render them, dont worry, ill share them with u...need some tips too~

hey, i know this sounds off topic, but i am planning to apply a job oversea...the problem is im still trying to master 3ds max, the fact that max is still the number 1 in architecture. But what are ur opinions regarding to this?

I just love SKP, and now addicted to maxwell render...i know maya a lot more than max though. So, how is it possible for me to contribute just using skp and maxwell?

You can do a lot with Sketchup and Maxwell - I do a lot with Sketchup exports to Max, pretty much to use it for textures and rendering, so skipping Max and going straight to Maxwell should be just as good. Though I haven't touched the SKP-to-Maxwell interface since several versions ago.
