mskin
i've got to be honest, im not a real terrain fan. the command seams to oversimplify, and just not give me the shape i really want - regardless of the interpolation i use. when i select "layered solid" the contours look very different than the original splines i used to generate it. I've tried instead to painstakingly make complete closed polylines in acad prior to bringing them into sdmax, but the number of vertices in the engineers drawing are so numerous that the file is unmanageable. Granted, my site is large... 10+ acres, with many grade changes, but there must be a tried and true method for generating complex terrrains without my file size exploding and my work flow imploding. do i need to create my own simplified terrains, with fewer vertices using splines? or is there some other super secretive method that i don't know about?
