cfoster14
I have sometimes had issues with ACAD lines in Max, where I try to extrude the linework, and instead of making a solid object (top, bottom, and sides), it only extrudes the sides, leaving the top and bottom open. Has anyone ever encountered this? What's the trick to fix this or prevent it from happening?
bdonay
must be a closed polyline. double check your cad line work or use the pedit command.
vizwhiz
Caroline There may be an 'option' To "cap Ends" in max (somewhere) and yes The polylines do need To be 'closed' before extrusion This will close The Top and Bottom of extruded polylines ** i prefer 3d modeling in autocad solids 1st b4 filelinking into max but That is only an old-style personal preference To create objects Randy
imgumbydammit
I believe the lack of caps is due to extruding lines instead of volumes..caps that will be covered by floors or roof structures are unneeded polys anyway IMHO..If you need to cap the top of a parapet wall for instance that you extruded use the cap or bridge commands after converting to editable poly and selecting the appropriate edges ...
