pradipta
Hi, I am working on abig interior projevct right now and after calculating LC and IR I have to go for some minor changes in the design. Is it necessary to update the LC and IR after that, since it will take a considerable amount of time calculating them. The changes are small like changing the height of one object etc... Thanks for any advice...
Brian Smith
If the changes are small then it will usually not matter...depending on resolution, materials used in that area, AA used, etc. But even if the results are bad, just rerender a small region of the changed area. The bigest problem is the missing IR calc samples.
pradipta
ok. In that case I can use the existing LC data and will regenerate the IR data. That will solve the problem. The changes are very small, like changing the height of couple of objects and those objects are covering around 3 percent in the camera view for 2 sec only. I will better do some region render before going for the final rendering. Thank you Brian so much for helping me out of this problem.
BrianKitts
I've found that you can usually reuse calculated maps if you are only changing materials, unless it is a strong color that is bouncing alot of colored GI. And as for changing geometry, if you are adding stuff (or enlarging somethings size) you are normally ok, it's when you remove stuff (or make something smaller) the uncovering of new objects that were previously unseen can cause problems. pradipta
Thanks Brian. Since I am increasing height of couple of objects, I will not calculate the LC again. I will better calculate the IR. I will post the result in this thread after doing some test rendering.
