Nick_f
Hi all, Which resallers in the UK have people used to purchace Vray? Which are best price and have good customer advice/support etc. I've read a few posts around the net suggesting that customer service from Chosgroup is a "little slow". Not my opinion as they are obviously very busy! Many Thanks Nick
alfienoakes
http://www.chaosgroup.com, or http://www.evermotion.org. Buy it online. Its only a few files, and downloads in no time. Andy
Nick_f
Is it cheaper to download online besides the postage cost? Call me shallow, but I would like a nice box though! :-D Nick

Eric
Call me shallow, but I would like a nice box though! :-D Nick Nick, I agree - I want my purchased software to come with a CD and printed instruction manuals. There is too many times when you're trying to walk through a tutorial or something and you have to tab back and forth between your drawing and your tutorial or help file to figure out what the crap you're supposed to be doing. In my opinion, putting electronic copies of help files on a CD instead of printed hard copies is a cost savings to the software developer, and probably does not get passed on to the consumer. I was pleased to see that my Evermotion catalogs I purchased a couple of days ago would be shipped out on CDs - at least I think they said they would be mailed to me... The bottom line is that if all of the software we purchased was only available via download, we'd have huge lists of sites and user/passwords to visit to download all the stuff in the event of a computer crash. Yes, we can burn our own copies, which is fine, and it's nice to have a site you can go to if you want to download another copy to replace your damaged disc. It still looks and feels like you bought a reputable piece of software though when you have a hard copy in hand with nicely designed graphics, etc. I had a hard time parting with my (HUGE) 3D Studio 2.5 package, and finally just gave it to a friend of mine. Jeff Mottle
Is it cheaper to download online besides the postage cost? Call me shallow, but I would like a nice box though! :-D Nick Hey Nick, If you purchase through VisMasters (click shop in the main menu), we can ship you a copy of V-Ray in the cases provided by Chaos along with a screened CD. They do not provide boxes, but rather a tri-fold sleeve to hold the disc. You'll have to wait for version 1.5 to release though.
Nick_f
Thanks Jeff, It does seem that everywhere, Vray ships as electronic download. Either way, I can't wait to explore its capabilities. Nick
