mrcharles
Any word on why the websites are down? I would hate to lose that resource.
Fran
To paraphrase Paul Barrere, "It's been down, but not like this before."
Ernest Burden III
This down is different from other downs?
mrcharles
What's up with the other downs? This down looks way down... maxwell, next limit... it would be nice to have a little note announcing what is going on and where/when they are moving to... then things might be looking up. Devin Johnston
Have both the forum and the main page ever been down at the same time? I guess if there all hosted off of the same server and that server is having problems that could explain it.

So I'm not sure if that means someone wiped them out or just that they are transferring to another host. I hope it's the latter.
AJLynn
These things happen. It's gone down before; usually this leads to several people speculating that Nextlimit has decided to kill the forum in order to silence them, gone out of business or been blown up by terrorists or angry customers, but it always turns out to be maintenence or a technical problem and comes back on later, so I wouldn't be too concerned. Fran
And it's not like we can't get video links and egghead brain-teaser discussions anywhere else.

Devin Johnston
Well I've tried emailing Juan to find out what's going on and apparently their e-mail system is completely down, I keep getting delivery delay notifications. I guess it is possible that everyone has gone home and they just don’t know anything about it.
ludi
at least the MXM Gallery is online. May be just a dns failure

olbo
Well, ... sorry to say that, ... it looks like they just changed servers and the dns update needs a bit time - about 24h. You can take a look for your self ... use your favorite whois query server and you'll get something like this ... : Record expires on 26-Jan-2011. Record created on 27-Jan-1998. Database last updated on 28-Sep-2006 13:54:24 EDT. (This is the important part) Record expires on 16-Jan-2016. Record created on 16-Jan-2003. Database last updated on 28-Sep-2006 13:59:02 EDT. ... I guess this has something to do with nicole ... and her emailserver. *LOOOL* ... ;o) edit: Isn't it funny that Victor hasn't changed at all, ... no announcement for the masses ... nothing. Just don't forget, ... we are the ones that let this happen ... not they are like cockroaches ... we always come back, but the banned. ;o) take care Oleg
AJLynn
As a former sysadmin for a small software company, I can tell you: these things happen, usually unexpectedly. It's not intended to inconvenience the customers - nobody actually wants to inconvenience the customers, even Nextlimit, Dell, or the Volkswagen dealership around the corner from Unos near Green Lakes. Adrian Brown
Ah, but it is yet another another shining example of how unorganized and poorly run that company is. I seriously don't get them. I just switched my web server yesterday, but of course no one would know. Knew when my domain was set to expire, I set the up server ahead of time. Switched my dns's manually, it progated in 2 hours, no one the wiser of the switch. It's so easy now a days. And, or course, they never would bother to put up a little note on the forums or email letting they're would be switching hosts and might be down for a day or so. They might as well leave it down. Maxwell's going nowhere (and going to be obsolete soon anyhow, wink wink)
Devin Johnston
Well I think we can all agree that NL has some pretty big problems but I don't see how it's going to be obsolete.
stuart mayes
Yes we Europeans can be a bit too relaxed about our business practices at times, I guess NL have a server problem right now.......but isn't it a bit too early to be jumping for glee at the expected demise of NL? Some people out there are just DYING for it to happen.....lol......toys and prams comes to mind..........MWR is the best quality render engine out there bar none.......and with RealFlow too, NL will be here for a long time that's for sure.
