Adrian Brown
Oh, I'm not saying their going anywhere, or Maxwell unfortunately for that matter. But "MWR is the best quality render engine out there bar none", not for long...
Devin Johnston
Even if you are right and MWR is soon going to have competition I don't see them just laying down and letting another company roll over them. If anything competition will cause NL to become more competitive and will force them to change the way they sell and support Maxwell. I'm happy to see other companies joining the MLT engine family. AJLynn
BTW, they're not entirely dead - I just got a Sketchup plugin off download.nextlimit.com. I think that one's got multiple mirrors off site.
Fran
Is it any wonder that some people harbor ill will for Next Limit? They have put the pre-order customers through the mill and ultimately released a product that is whoefully shy of what they were originally sold. Many customers of nearly two years still have no working plugin. While I wish Next Limit all the best, I also understand the other side of the argument. I won't put up with much if it isn't necessary.
Devin Johnston
Juan said that one of the USA servers failed for the entire day and it cut web, forum and e-mail access, they are not happy.
mrcharles
It was probably the NSA putting tracers on all maxwell render traffic... ... might as well come back now... websites are back on line. Another crisis has passed... I am glad for the continued existence of all of these forums... the NL maxwell site is very information rich... A final view from the other side... p.s. (what emoticon would you recommend for someone with a very dry sense of humor?... suggestions welcomed)
Ernest Burden III
what emoticon would you recommend for someone with a very dry sense of humor?... how about this one: . That says it all, doesn't it? I'm pretty happy to have discovered your great art pieces from an otherwise routine thread. Why don't you post a thread in off-topic with that work? I have a keen interest in visionary architectural artwork, and most of it is traditional media, even mine. I love to see good digital examples. I even have a long-neglected site to show work like that, and another that's supposed to sell fine-art prints of that sort of work. If you don't want to post more here, send me some by email, if you like. I'm loving what you're doing.
Devin Johnston
Now I'm curious about this, can you give us a description of how your perceive your art, and what your trying to say.
mrcharles
Well... thanks for the comments... . Maxer... your question brings to mind crits in grad school... These sketches are a part of my exploratioin of 3D media tools. My history with s/w goes back to '91. My artwork began in photography but has changed to combine many media (drawing, paint, photography, collage). This is a sample of my artwork (as I currently identify it... titled "insiderendition") As you can see... a bit different from the views from the other side. The other side are show more of a sense of a place. The aerial view gives a priveldged perspective on the actors. The objects began as an experiment with a simple meshed form. When placed together they took on a new life... it seemed that social interactions were readily imagined when viewing the sketches. With that imagination engaged, narratives begin. Looking at these images feels a bit like I am an explorer of exotic worlds... where meaning is constructed with rules inferred from close observation. and it does have an architectural quality to it... I'm thinking in part it is because the depiction of space within the images was an important consideration.
