how can i turn a word document to a .pdf file? (i have word 97)

I've never used this service, but there seem to be many sites on which you can do this for free (as a trial) from common file types, such as .doc files.

go to the adobe site, they used to have a free service where you could convert up to 5 docuements to pdf files for free. dont know if they still do it, you should check it out.

You can use it without restrictions.

The only thing is that you have the website as pop-up everytime you make a PDF.

or put the text into photoshop and use the automate command and their is a pdf conversion plugin there.

try searching for the pdf printer plugin, this allows you to print any document from any app that allows printint to be printed as a pdf file. If you have the plugin, select print, and where you select which printer to use select the adobe pdf printer, then print and it will ask you where to save the file

Google search for PrimoPDF, its a printer driver to convert most types of document to PDF's which can be read by Adove PDF. Been using it for a while and works well

Thank you guys for your help...very useful indeed.

i used the free adobe service for 5 documents and worked fine. BUT...my original document had 8 pages, after conversion, it had 11!!! the original font was bigger than original. Why? I used Garamond. Is there a problem with this font?
