Mac Pro

Recommended Posts

I´m ready to buy a new workstation. I was gonna buy a dual core opteron until I found out about the Mac Pro.

Is it true that they are faster and cheaper than a Pc with similar specifications?

How does it handles 3dsmax + vray?

Any help would be really apreciated.

I just configured both, and the Mac came out $100 cheaper than the dell, but you'll still need a windows CD, and you can run apple software as well, pretty good deal really, they are very smart to be going this route, if they keep it up they may recapture the graphics market...

oh and from what i've heard everything runs great on the windows side...

I bought a Mac Pro and I've been quiet happy.

It's not true that they are faster than PC's with similar configurations since it's using the exact same parts now, but they are cheaper. When I checked Dell the difference was $550 when you factor in the educational discount from Apple. Get an OEM copy of XP Pro from Newegg for $150 and you're good to go. If you do this make sure you get XP Pro since aprently the Home edition has trouble seeing the second processor. I also would recomend picking up another HD from Newegg as well since they are so insanely inexpensive right now. (Do they have New Egg in Columbia?)

I ordered the base configuration of the Mac Pro and have been happy with, since I do a lot of Photoshop work in addition to 3D it works out well.

Conclusion, its worth it to buy a mac pro.

and No, we dont have new Egg in Colombia but I can buy in New Egg from Here, send the package to Miami and ABE cargo can bring the package to colombia. It´s slow but secure.
