Eric
Can anyone help me figure out how to get this scene to render with all elements at the same time? The plants are Evermotion Archmodels, the candles are using SSS, and all materials are Vray Mats. System Specs: Intel 3.2ghz HT 1gb ram Vray 1.47.03 Max 7 The scene always crashes when it's calculating lighting, but only crashes when I have the plants turned on. Brian Smith
It's because you're only using 1 GB memory. Open Task Manager when you click the render button and watch your available RAM take a nose dive. 2GB is what I would consider the absolute minimum for rendering a scene of this size. Rendering a single wine glass (with good settings) could crash VRay/Max if you only had 1GB.
Eric
Interesting - I was under the impression that Vray was supposed to be able to handle almost anything - I figured it would work around the memory issue. I don't care if it takes 2 days to render, I just want it to render! My board will handle 4gig of memory. Maybe it's time to fork out the dough and max it out. Thanks for the reply. manta
A few solutions for you... Try switching to QMC for secondary, lightcache uses alot of memory for some reason... Are those trees 3d models ? if so turn them into proxy's... Switch to windows X64, it will give you alot more memory freedom... And definitly get some more ram... Eric
Yes, the plants are 3d models - they're x-ref'd into the scene. I'll proxy them. Will give QMC a try as well. Guess I'll buy (2) 1gb sticks too...
