jurrka
Hello, When I link the dwg file into 3ds max 8, all the AEC objects, like windows and doors are exploded into seperate parts and appear as: Door/Window Assembly Default Frame Door/Window Assembly Default Infill Door/Window Assembly Default Mullion When linking a large architectural building into 3ds max I end up with about 1000 of such objects that makes it very difficult to work with the file and organise materials. I've tried literally all the settings and the closest I've come to solving this is ticking in 'Create one scene object for each ADT object', however it still gives me each window as an object when before there was only one layer. Has anyone experienced this problem, as I can't seem to find the answer anywhere?
TRUSTYGUY
Try linking it to VIZ as if your rendering there...then save the file and open it in MAX (the viz files are opened by MAX)...the only problem is you can not move or modify or delete anything there...you only assign materials / cameras / light and render...If you require any changes you have to repeat the whole process again (but at least you have your materials / Light and Camera there... Hope I gave you some help in that issue..as I am also always trying to explore and do such stuff with ADT. If you have any other ideas please share them with us. Thanks. jurrka
I haven't got VIZ installed, and it's another step to go through when linking which is difficult if you're designing and rendering at the same time. One thing I noticed though is that you don't get this problem while you don't have the realdwg 2007 installed and it's actually supposed to be an improvement (not sure how extra 1000 objects can make working with files easier), not a bug. I did find a way around it if anyone has similar problems with this new 'improvement' - after you've installed SP3 and RealDWG 2007, go to autodesk webpage, download 'Architectural Desktop Object Enabler 2007' and install it. After that unistall it straight away (I know it sounds weird, but that's the only way I could get it working the way I'm used to) and everything's back to normal. Hope it helps, please post if you've found an easier way around it...
