scanmead
I really wanted to express my appreciation for the help you all gave here, and to apologize for being so silent. RL gave me a bad shock last week, when I lost my dog to old age. Anyway, I gave my best effort to the render, and while it's not great, it's a hundred times better than it would have been without your input and help. http://www.scanmead.com/new/galleries/cinema/mts.htm I also posted it over at Renderosity, with a public thanks to you all. lee

AJLynn
Yeah, you really got the lighting down.
scanmead
You're very generous. Thanks to the file William posted, the lighting began to make sense in this. Using the area lights in the windows, and cranking up the "sun" made a huge difference... had to redo all the shaders, but a definite improvement. I don't know how you all balance the lighting and shaders and make it look so effortless time after time.
Sindala
Hey, I followed your previous thread a bit, you really made a huge improvement, it's a really good render now! Sorry about your buddy, we lost our hairy friend (here on the left) 3 months ago, it's hard and we still miss him a lot. But hey, all dogs go to heaven where they can sniff strange butts and pee on an endless supply of lampposts for all eternity.
scanmead
What a beautiful big dog he was! You just don't realize all the little things they do until they're gone. I'd pay money to watch one of you set up scene lighting and figure out how you make it look so real. This was fun, because there was a lot of learning in it. Sindala
I think you'll find these are a lot cheaper than us: http://dvd.3dfluff.com/prodinfo.htm volume 4 is great!
scanmead
lol! That's on my Christmas wish-list. Vet bills come first this year. Trouble is, no two scenes are alike, and finding the correct solution seems to just come from practice, and knowing different set ups.
Frosty
Good Job! That is a huge improvement in every respect.
scanmead
Thanks. Another decade or so, and I'll catch up with y'all. Hope you don't mind, I've been telling everyone who likes doing achitecture about this place, and passing along (with credit to you) some of the things I learned here.
