Quick tips for reducing render times... modelling / lighting & texturing?

optimization.

look at your render settings. Do you have too high values for GI (diffuse depth, samples, accuracy, etc)? Maybe your AA settings can be lowered? Are you using area lights/ shadows - look at the samples settings for these. Lower the AO accuracy in shaders or globally.

Nowhere near a complete list of settings, but you get the idea. Usually when lowering these settings, you'll notice in the render quality, but with experience (ie getting to "know" what the settings do), you'll be able to optimize settings without noticable degradation in render quality. The reason why this is possible, is because the settings are never universal - they always depend on your scene (different from an interior to exterior, fx).

I know it can be frustrating as a novice user (and I use that term in a non-derogatory way) to manipulate settings, but like I said, you'll eventually get to understand what settings do. This will be much more efficient than me simply telling you to lower your GI accuracy, for example, since this specific settting might not be relevant for your scene.

Hope I didn't make this to complicated.
