CS2 on Win64?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had issues running CS2 on a Win64 machine? I have a new Dual Woodcrest machine getting fitted out right now by my IT dept, and they are telling me that CS2 is causing them problems and that Adobe does not support Win64. Adobe not supporting it is the "official" position but I thought I remember hearing from some of you that you run it without any problems?

What gives?

I've got it running, haven't done much with it yet but it's been working fine to the extent I've used it. I think Win64 makes IT departments more nervous than they need to be. I'm trying to get our guys to let me build a Conroe from parts, overclock it and run Win64, don't know if I'll get away with that :)

you do need to create a folder under the C: drive... example CS2 and intall all the CS2 there.

Adobe products don't like the parentesis, when you install them in 64 bits they are under "Program Files (x86)"

is that something new...Seems to me adobe always installs to program files, for me anyway...

Too bad you don't work here AJ, I'd have helped you build one! I just finished putting together the 4th conroe system (another 2.4@3.0), virtually identical specs across all systems. It's running its 48 hour dual prime95 right now. That concave surface E6700@3.2 has been running nearly 500 hours now on a dna analysis run. Solid as a rock.

Btw, if you ever have an IT guy who refuses to give you admin access, just ask to have adobe products installed. Photoshop freaks the hell out if you don't have admin access, as its constantly tryin to write to various temp directories on C. Most admins don't know enough to reconfigure it to use a different area on the harddrive, and will just give up and give you admin access.

Though I'd hope you don't have that paranoid an IT guy that they don't give you admin access.
