shaangfx
hello fobus I downloaded the demo version of vray scatter and i plan to buy it. but before that i have some questions: 1. vrayscatter texture is disabled in the demo version? 2. when i load vray proxies i cant apply textures and maps to it..why is that? if yes how can i do that with vray scatter. hope to hear from you soon
fobus
to shaangfx: VRayScatterTexture is enabled in DEMO. Saving is disabled. You can apply any materials to VRayScatter as You can to VRayProxy. Absolutely same as with VRayProxy.
Nic H
whats the licesnsing for this? I cant read russian but I read on Chaos it had to be bought per rendernode?
fobus
Yes. Workstation license - 100 euro. Rendernode license - 20 euro. Bundle consists of 1 Workstation + 50 rendernodes = 400 euro. Edited September 18, 2008 by fobus

classix
My favorite scatter tool is itoosoft forest. There is a demo version. http://www.einherzfuerpixel.de
Matt McDonald
You can find demo videos of VRay RT here: http://www.trinity3d.com/media/chaos_group/VRayRTmovies.shtml But RT will take advantage of as many and as fast (or slow) a processor as you can through at it. I'm sure that it get more out processors on the local computer rather than render nodes due to network load. This was a pretty interesting thread about that VRay scatter tool. Has anyone really used it? The ability to dynamically apply randomization to your textures across several objects sounds great but if the scatter will not allow you prevent collisions between multiple geometry types it seems less useful for work on landscapes (as opposed to forests).
