sergio rocha
yo witch thats cool. :ngelaugh: you just need to work those materials, expand your opacity maps and model the roof tops
the white witch
thanks for the compliment.. but what do you mean by expanding my opacity maps and building roof tops. could u explain further...
STRAT
Originally posted by sergio rocha: need to work those materials, expand your opacity maps and model the roof tops he means there's a white edge round the people. make sure you adjust your opacity mapping to fit correctly. and the roofing is flat and mapped by a material. it looks unrealistic. he means model it up proper. give it some body. STRAT
there are hundreds of modelling methods, some even covered in the forums here (use the SEARCH option). the white witch
thanks strat,i saw the tutorials, is that how u do your corrugations? that must take a lot of time especially for roofs with various pitch angles. would it be faster if done in cad. STRAT
i dont actually do allot of residentials, and to be honest when i do i use clever mapping methods for the roof.

Jefferson Grigsby
A darker, less saturated material would help tremendously. It also looks as though you are trying to simulate a standing seam, or metal roof. You probably would not see that on a residential, or maybe I am reading it wrong. Pay more attention to how the actual roof is built. Does it have a gutter, or some trim around the outside? DOes it have a flashing piece along the ridgeline, assuming it is a metal roof? These little details will help make it more believable. The only thing a map will not give you is the corregated profile against the sky background. You can overcome this by adding some trim piece to the ridge, which would be there anyway. I would also like to see more variation in the grass material, with a darker green.
