Woody
Is there a plugin out there that'll convert Alias files to Max and what is the file extension for Alias? Cheers.
monkeysee
Are we talking Maya or Alias Studio? The extentions for Maya are *.ma or *.mb, where as Alias studio is *.wire. You should be able to export to either *.fxb, or *.obj from Maya and import them into max, and I presume Alias Studio is similar. Hope this helps. Woody
Thanks for the info Simon, i've tried 3ds in the past but I'll save it out as an obj file and give that a go. Cheers.
mdviz
I am trying export max scene files/models into the Alias Studio Tools (.wire) format. The import/export capabilty is listed for Max2009 here: http://www.novedge.com/Autodesk/3ds-Max-2009-Standalone-License/products/1882/tab/1 Is this export module only available in the Max 2009 64 bit version? I cannot see the .wire export as an option in the 32bit version on windows XP. Can anyone explain the .wire format and any info on how to export to it. Thanks for any help in advance! Crazy Homeless Guy
I would think that Autodesk would be pushing FBX on this, that is the first that I would try. It isn't perfect, but it keeps a lot of information.
mdviz
Thanks crazy but unfortunately the .wire format is a client request which I have not had a chance to discuss with them any further yet. I can export/import to .fbx fine but not to .wire.
