pradipta
I have some a files that we are rendering with respower.com. But, the prblem is the frames are not getting rendered in the alotted 2 hour slot and getting dead after completing only 60-70 percent within that time. We are uning unlimited services in respower.com where a frame can not take more than 2 hours. So, i was thinking if it is possible to use split-frame render for our file. I would be grateful to see some answers. We are runing out of time.
Ricardo Eloy
Never tried, but I honestly don't see why not.
pradipta
Thanks a lot Rick for your post. I went to respower manual, even there it is mentioned Split-Frame render not supported for animation. So, only way to render is, split the entire animation scene file into multiple number of still files, around 500 of them for 500 frames. I will call respower technician for further support and let you know of his comment.
kippu
one frame for 2 hours at a renderfarm.... ?
pradipta
yes, man. Some shots are rendering only 60-70 percent in 2 hour slot. We had to use high sample since our client will not compromise on quality. So, we had to do everything possible to get the output right.
kippu
"If your render engine does support split-frame rendering, it is possible to do split-frame animation rendering, which allows for much longer render times." i read this on res power site , since i got curious... good luck there
devres
First of all, are you using the new "super cache"? If not, that's the first place to start. It's crucial to have your IR map precalced and set to the following location for the file (even though you will still upload it to same "source" directory as your max file. C:/respower/temp/ When you use the render wizard there will be a list of the available IR maps you have uploaded. Simply select the map and setup the rest of your render the way you normally would. This has allowed the farm to run frames much faster due to much lower network overhead. Split frame animation is possible and works rather well (most of the time) expect the same problems of odd anomilies from respower setup. Missing textures, missing geometry, ect... You WILL have to pick up frames at the end. But it does work and it does allow frames that would otherwise NOT run to run. You basically now get 8 hours per frame at 2x2, don't try to go any higher or it will actually take longer. I've also had some strange errors in the stitch process, easily fixed by calling and rerunning the stitch. Good luck man...
