Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone one out there knows of a good source to find RFP's (request for proposal) for large visualization/animation jobs.

  • If there isn't one, could this be a good section to add to CGarchitect?
  • Do city/state governments know of this site to use as a source?

Thanks for the help in advance,

d

Hi Maxor,

I don't think you understood my question.

I know there are huge animation projects out there for local governments. They are looking for Visualization Firms to bid on them.

For instance the California High Speed Rail Project. There was a RFP (Request For Proposal) for visualizations for that project. I feel like I am missing out on hearing about those projects, because you need to be connected with someone to hear about it.

For local govt, you really need to know someone but for national work, there are databases that they use to prequalify vendors and once you jump through all of the hoops, you should start receiving RFQ/RFP notices if they relate to your business. You might look for a procurement specialist if you want to chase after these projects.

Hoops, and hoops and more hoops. Are you insured, bonded, can you prove equal-opportunity hiring, submit your licences (never mind if the task doesn't require them) etc. The RFPs I've seen are so filled with stuff you are supposed to do and submit that its almost too much for any mortal to handle. Big firms have departments to deal with the paperwork, its hard for small ones.

A central database wouldn't hurt, of course. At least you'ld know what was out there.

Well that's no fun. The new Firefox has a spellchecker. It insisted that I was mis-spelling "you'ld" No way! I looked it up...way. It is you'd.
