I have worked with an architect for a year maining modelling and rendering.I have since moved and have been offered my first freelance job.I have to model 4 houses and then render them.its pretty staight forward as jobs go.I have alot of testures that I can use.My problem is that they want some people and cars in the scene. I have neither. Should I buy some or model them???What are my options. The packs are slightly out of my budget. I am willing to spend a little bit of money to get setup but is there an alternative. any advice would be great.

Many Thanks Patrick

the cheapest way out would be to do your render then go online and use google images or flickr to find the elements you need that match the camera angle and drop in your render with photoshop.

not sure what you consider cheap but i feel dosch has some very good sets for not so much.

an essential for me is lowpolygon3d cars. really cheap and most effective. (they also do good cheap peeps too), but yes, for stills, and when on a budget, use photography clips.

each new job that comes along it's wise to spend a small bit of the fee on new kit and resources for yourself. you'll soon build up a nice armoury of stuff.

you'll soon need 3d trees and shrubs too. bite the bullet and go buy some. once bought once you can use them in every other job you do.

i also like to buy one offs in turbosquid - say i need a specifically modelled plant, or kitchen object, or bit of furniture for example, i'll happily spend a few bucks in turbosquid for them and let the job pay for it.

Grab your digital camera and hit the streets. Its a little work cutting them out, but it only has to be done once. You library will be unique and the people will be geographically correct.

TOTALLY agree....and you will get much more realistic looking results.

The RPC librarys are OK, but every other visual has them in, and their posture / stance and even clothing is very contrived and un-natural (imho).
