Koper
some people might not know how to handle a camera properly in an animation so it might be a good topic to put in. - Animation, from camera control to production. Then some techniques for post production using either premier or combustion. Also some guidelines for improving the animation footage, for example: -- putting black strips on the top and bottom to give it film quality feel. But to do this one needs to render with a wider aspect ratio to give space and not cut off footage in post production.
martin walker
Id like to see some talk about camera angles, composition, framing, post editting etc....especially for animations. The guys at Uniform in Liverpool have a fantastic presentation technique...cut above the usual 360 camera sweep stuff

acidmaster
This is of course a personal request... Can, and how could real-time play a more significant role in architectural visualization? What would need to change?, What would artists need? etc.. Can real-time visualization work at all in this domain? Is the push to integrate real-time into architectural presentation futile? These are just a few ideas I think could be explored. G
padhia
How about a lesson in cleaning and optimizing files in AutoCad for import into 3d Studio? For all of us without architecture backgrounds....
jafs00
I vote for andy pennington's Photoshop techniques: adding bitmaps of people cars and trees AdriaaN van Jaarsveld's - Animation, from camera control to production. and please please please, correct usage of compression codecs for not having jumpy horrible looking animations
Tommy L
Future methodology of 3d. Implications of intelligent programs which simulate the building fabric/function (and light itself) so creating an autonomous design solution for architects. Will this negate the need for 'low/medium end' visualisation firms? I think it will.

Sawyer
Maybe its been said before but I would really like an example of a "live linked" drawing. Where it is still in active modifications in 2d cad but is being brought into max and used as a 3d drawing.
Bwana Kahawa
Perhaps a guide to the artistic side of post processing - compostion, framing, overall use of colour in lighting, materials, etc. Basically, the difference between a render and a piece of art! Justin Hunt
I second this one, its often overlooked and makes a big impact How about discribing the differences and whats involved between producing Marketing quality images and those done for design development. sunn2000
I've recently been looking for a guide for naming conventions, I've developed my own sets of naming conventions for my materials, objects, layers, etc, but I've never seen a guide for this sort of information. Coming from an architectural background and usually starting my 3D models in CAD or Rhino, I tend have everything named before I start working in 3ds max, but once I'm there and have to create new objects to add to the CAD model the naming of objects and materials can become a nightmare especially under tight deadlines and if you're getting constant model updates from a client. Additionally, this industry has lots of contractors and it seems like we are starting to see a sort of standardization of the industry with websites like these, or more formally, autodesks, the area. i'm seeing more and more websites with tutorials on "standard" gi/vray/mentalray settings and lots of material sites showing up. I think it would be good to see a few stardards start to come into play, I'm sure individual companies have them, but I'm wondering if there's an opportunity for a larger discussion on that in this industry. ciao
chow choppe
a quick guide on how to deliver an animation project from scratch to final product:preferably with vray should include things like: how to set size of animation for a Cd or DVD output how to work out animation speed how and from where to select the music. what settings for vray to use. how to add things like flowing water, fountains, a huge number of trees. what are the time saving techniques what should be the techniques and settings to be followed to create an animation quality similar to what we achieve in stills with vray. thanks
charlemagne
Maybe not really specific to Architectural renderings, but how about marketing an archviz company. How to get contracts landed on your desk. What publicity channels to choose from, how to approach prospects, ... Not to mention quotation parameters. How do you get to making an offer for a certain job. Do you make a variation based on 'detail level wanted', 'final output', 'scale and scope of the project', 'status & prestige', ... ??? Or merely on number of elements to be modelled/animated/rendered. Ch.
mahorela
sorry if this has been said before but I would like some definitive information on typical workflows. p_4204
Although my architectural renderings are very accurate and recieve excellant comments from clients I want to offer more of an artistic quality to my projects. I would like to know how to create better exterior lighting effects and background effects that add excitement and atmosphere to the scene rather that just accuracy and nice shadows. andrebaros
This is my first post, but I've been lurking for a while. How about addressing the topic of cleaning up 3D files from 3D cad such as Revit, Architectural Desktop, ArchiCAD, etc. Both for a process where you keep the link and for a project where you break the link but might need to get updates.
