Guest saturnfive
This is frame 1 from an animation for my current architectural project. It's a first floor office refurbishment. http://www.cgarchitect.com/forum/filepush.asp?file=CLIP_01_V_02_0000000copy.jpg I'm using it partly as a development tool to visulize the spaces and work out furniture placement, lighting etc. I'm doing quick flythroughs just to get an idea of the space, but I want it to be a nice little movie once the interior is finalised. Any crits appreciated as it's my first play with max 5 radiosity. I think the settings were: 70% initial quality 300mm mesh 2 refine iterations level 4 filter
mbr
It looks pretty good...but it feels a little flat. Not sure where the light is coming from, the ceiling looks a little strange and dark More contrast with the lighting and shadows How long did it take to render (per frame, for the solution, etc.)? I'd be interested in seeing the animation when you are done.
Guest saturnfive
You're quite right about the lights: there are downlighters in there, but no sources for them yet. Yeah, upping contrast might add some more interest to the scene. Lights: 1)linear points (the recessed overhead ones you can see) 2) uplighters on the sloping soffits 3) downlighters (no visible source yet) 4) external sunlight (behind cam) 5) external skydome. Tweaking the light balance is a bit of a pain since it means calculating a new solution each time...time for another coffee then Solution time: 13m09s (AMD 1800XP,1GB DDR ram) Render time: about 35 seconds per frame at 640x300 (render direct illumination, no regather)
proces2
filtering of 4 is too high. it really should never be set beyond 3. past 3 is starts to was away the shadowing and indirect shadowing. you will se it happen in your viewport as you increase the value. sean
proces2
oops, i meant to say "wash" away the shadowing.
