Andrew Roane
I am trying to learn how to use Vray proxy objects for a landscaping project that I have to render. This is my first try. I followed the directions at Chaosgroup's info page, and I had no problem until I actually rendered. It's obvious that the materials didn't work. (I rendered the original right next to the proxy.) The plant was modeled in OnyxFlower, imported as .3ds, and the mats are all Vray MultiSubObjects. As always, I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks. Parker1
Thanks Olbo...you beat me too it. AJROANE, Be very careful. We recently made a ton of proxy plants, put them in a scene and sent it to Backburner. It was a 4000x2500 pixel still image and each strip was taking almost 20 hours to render. Proxies are great, do not get me wrong, but just be aware that render times can still get out of hand if you go too crazy with them.
Andrew Roane
Thanks, that's good to know. The scene I'm starting is not huge, it's a medium sized condo building in a desert environment. I'm putting in a few palm trees and I was planning on using proxies heavily for the flowers (client requested LOTS of flowers). I will definitely try to minimize that usage now. Thanks for the material help also. It would be nice if you didn't have to reassign the mats, but it's not that bad to fix. Thanks again.
Tyorl
Strange problem... Never got it, try to check "Automatically create proxy" while selecting "Export to vrmesh" in your quads.
