proces2
I am looking to replace my hp zd7000 laptop because of its size and weight. (and the performance being quite outdated at this point - its about 2 years old). it has a p4 chip which makes it run very hot and its battery life is terrible. i am trying to find the right ratio of performance (core 2 duo), weight (around 6 lbs or less i suppose - i do need to be fairly mobile with it), battery life (4+ hours during basic computing stuff), and size (no bigger than 15.4" screen). (this list pretty much goes in order by priority). anyone have suggestions, laptop stories about how their's might match up against these specs? so far i have been looking at hp dv6000t and the dell laptops (not too sure what the differences are between looking at a "latitude" or "inspiron"). sean

lambros
A 4+ hours of battery life is only possible with ultra mobile configurations (12'' Sony Vaio for example). A decent 3d accelerator will drain much energy, and in that case a 2 hour battery life is excellent.
visual3d
Any core 2 duo would do but i would suggest the fastest available or the one you can afford...unless you have another machine to render on. Ram minimum 2gb for vray.
AJLynn
I've had my Macbook Pro run for 4 hours. This is in OSX with the brightness down a few clicks and not doing anything too exciting. I've had it go 2.5 hours while playing a DVD.
