salf
Ok, im doing this mall's food court rendering, the roof is a huge tensile structure, but Im not happy with the membrane material, right now is just a light beige a little transparent, and thats it. I have mainly 2 issues: 1- The material itself, I dont like it, it doesnt looks like a tensile fabric. 2- For some reason it isnt receiving shadows from the outside, i mean, the material is a little transparent, in some places you can see teh cables and structure behind it, however, the shadows that those cables are casting doesnt shows up in the render (I see them on the floor, but not on the membrane) thanks. jafs00
What is the renderer you are using, and the settings? first it seems that you could use a darker material for the metal structure and reduce the reflection, put some glossiness and reflection on the tent material well as turn the transparency up a little more. FlytE
My only suggestion is that you try to work on the translucency settings of the roof rather than the transparency settings. Im wondering if it might be the case that you have to fake the shadows somehow with some kind of opacity map...?
Ricardo Eloy
Use VRay2-sidedMtl for that. Works like a charm.

martin walker
Vray Material...enable vray as your renderer and then select through your material editor as you would any other material....it does give great results

neko
while you're at it, you might want to adjust the scale of your people - they look a little dwarf-like compared to the chairs
