Josh1587140445
Well the first thing that jumps out at me is the roof. You might want to tone that down a little and I would put an environment image in your reflection slot for your windows so they are not completely black. Also I would find a different texture for the sidewalk. Or edit it a little, because right now it screams ceiling tile to me.

Also: Shadow for the woman.Scale down the bump on the lower part of the walls - it looks like a close up.Some dirt on that bottom wall would make it more realisticAnd, how about a car in the carport?Revit model? Good luck.
Ricardo Eloy
I'd add that maybe you should vary the trees...These Imagecell trees are too recognizable, maybe if you use 3 different trees...you can find some on www.animax.it. BTW, your grass looks great! [] Rick
schmoron13
rick, for the animax trees, how does it work since they're just pics? do you cut and paste them after the fact in ps?
Ricardo Eloy
Since they're free, they require some work on them. But nothing too hard. On PS, you clean the image, deleting everything but the tree itself. Then, you can save an alpha version to use as an opacity map. Quick and easy. And they render really fast, too. schmoron13
rick, ok now I'm a little confused. You mentioned saving an alpha copy as an opacity map so are you putting it back in 3ds max? how do you place it in there? sorry if it seems basic, but I'm just confused
Diego Rosales
The alpha channel contains transparency information: a b/w image where white=opaque and black=transparent (grays are semi-transparent). You can create a separate image (not just a channel), and use it in the opacity slot to define what is seen and what is not. /Diego
Ricardo Eloy
Yes. But...Are you sure you don't know that? Dude, your image is way more advanced than that.
schmoron13
what the hell is going on? who's talking to whom? what I meant is this: if you have a tree cleaned up and cutout from those files, how do you incorporate it into the rendering? I understand that you can cast (tree) shadows as projections from lights offscreen, but how do you actually place the tree in 3ds max? or do you incorporate it into the ps image? Diego Rosales
Seems that Rick and I posted at the same time. :???: Your place your "tree" in MAX by creating a plane and applying a material to it with an alpha "cutout" map in the opacity slot. MAX will even cast shadows based on the opacity bitmap you chose. Look for "alpha" in your MAX's reference guide, it’s well documented.
schmoron13
IT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE IT'S RIDICULOUS....why didn't I think of that gonna go try it out right now...
schmoron13
this is a SUPER quick mockup, but i just wanted to test the theory behind it: the original pic and what I did with it: I quickly used the wand tool to deselt the "junk" and then copied the file to a new layer, and applying a greyscale modifier and an inverse adjustement... and the result, quickly brought into 3ds max and using one of 3d total's standard skies: this stuff is there I say it: FUN!!! -doron
Arnel
Here is a quick update. Just show this to my client this morning and it was overwhelmingly accepted. Rick, animax is a forbidden site i can't access it. Any other reference site?

We really posted at the same time. when I finished writing my post, I saw yours... :ngelaugh: Anyway, Arnel, I really think the car added another dimension to the image. Also the sidedwalk looks waaaaay better, now. For the site, I really don`t undedrstand why it's forbidden... :???: But you can try the Tree Shop map library. It's free, and I can send it to you if you want (I don't remember the website... orangecry ) [] Rick
bigcahunak
The car adds a lot. the shadow on her dress and his leg seems to unmatch your light direction. close sidewalk looks much better.
