drvox
Hi all Here is attached an exterior scene of 6 houses and and interior of the living room. I wonder what is going wrong, since I can't get the same scene quality in exteriors as in interiors.. the interior scene is not finished yet, there are some mistakes that I have to fix, anyway I wonder waht ios going wrong with exteriors... I'm using vray and I guess that exterior materials are not helping to get the desired realism.. anyway I wonder if you can help me with some tips. Thanks a lot, King Regards

drvox
For exterior setting in the first picture I used the render settings of this tutorial. http://www.joepizzini.com/VRAY/Tutorial.htm I used a Target Direct Light and materials from http://www.vray-materials.de/. The second image is a restarting of all process...had just a few textures, had an HDRI for sky and I am using a VrayLight and a Target Direct. The render settings are the same as used in that tutorial. I suppose that the problem might be with my exterior materials...It's all so poor... I know that some trees, some people and cars would make it look better, but that's for last, now I need to get a nice building image and not try to fake the bad quality with some ambient stuff... What do you think? Regards
Tyorl
Sorry but I don't see any of the textures on yours exterior renderings... Just like u use only colors.
cmuscata
1. I don't think u have any direct light in the scene. Try using a direct light (intensity say 0.5) with Vray shadows. 2. VRAY settings, try using the ones i'm attaching beneath, they're not perfect but they seem to work nicely for me, even though i'm still striving to achieve better photorealism. (You can see an image of mine in another post I made in this same Forum a few mins ago) Also I think your materials are quite off. You seem to have some texture map applied but the UV's are wrong cos it's just getting stretched along the whole building. U need to apply a more suitable UV map modifier. Hope it helps.ciao
drvox
Cmuscata I saw your picture and it looks really nice!! I wonder how did you get that effect in the windows glass.... I hear people talking about applying refelection maps, bump maps, etc... I wonder if there is a nice tutorial that explain those concepts... I can handle with some materials as wood, alumminium, and pure glass, because there are nice tutorials for that, but in exterior scenes materials seems to be more complex... My Target Direct is there and I followed the steps presented in this tutorial that is recommended by many users..maybe is not in the right position... http://alzhem.brinkster.net/sub1/tutorials/tutorial7_en.htm Now it's time to work hard in materials and try using your Vray settings thanks a lot
