Pretty good computer deal

Recommended Posts

After spending many hours researching for a new computer, here's what i found through Dell. Far better than i was expecting. The final price is at the bottom.

A woman friend is looking to purchase. This would do nicely for what she has in mind, and her budget. Before I forward it though, where is the $300 affiliate discount coming from? Is that a generic promotional thing or is there a specific vehicle you're using (and is it open to others).

Actually, Brian Zajac found the coupon...he knows all the places to go to get this kind of stuff. But to answer the question, anyone can find or use this coupon, and there are coupons for just about any system and configuration. This particular coupon might expire tomorrow, the day after, i dont know, but there are always others just like it if you know where to look. I will ask him to post where he found it.

I guess I'm confused. Is this the coupon then, the PDF, or is it something else?

Good point. I thought it had to be a desktop, but the Inspiron shows as a laptop. What's interesting to me is they're running the 4mb cache version of the processor, but I haven't followed the laptop versions of the Core duo.

I can't imagine they'd be selling a laptop equipped like this for $1300, however.

Well, my friend is interested in streaming audio and day to day stuff. I imagine this could handle that okay.

A quick Google search turned up a site called couponchief.com that has the coupon info, and if you scroll down a bit, similar discounts on Toshibas.

I don't get why Dell can't offer laptops like that with a non-shared-memory video card for a few dollars more. There must be people out there who want a good CPU and a good video card at the same time...

Doing a search through google (http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=DKUS,DKUS:2006-33,DKUS:en&q=dell+coupon), there are tons of sites that offer great deals on Dell systems. In this case, I found it at two spots - www.techbargains.com & http://www.couponmountain.com/. We ended up using the http://www.couponmountain.com/ code since it worked the best & had the best discount. Just copy the promo code when you're at the Dell shopping cart section (right before your purchase) and you're good to go.

this is a laptop or PC? I guess you're not using this for 3D related program?

I wouldn't worry about using it for 3d work, I bought a dell laptop 3 months ago with one of those coupons, its a core duo 2300 with a gig of ram, intergrated video, and a 120 gig hard drive, I have completly stopped using my desktop since...this thing screams and renders faster than my amd X2 desktop, so basically your's will be a big step up from mine, but then, mine was only half the price of that one, well worth the money...

Brian,

Thanks for the pdf. And thanks Gregg and AJ, lots of great advice. I had a big budget, client didnt pay, so i had to scale back. I think Im going to charge this laptop on the Discover card.

Itll get me by until I can shell out the dough for a REAL Mac suite. The better half wants a LT anyway.

Maybe I should just get Lawrence Taylor instead...naaa

i saw something over at gateway.com

a QUAD-CORE basic unit at $3,600 +/-

2x 2 gbs = 4 gbs ram expandable To 8 gbs, 1066 FSB

with 2x 22" monitors or 1x 24" = +/- $4,999

i will be paying for my order hopefully This next week

This was originally listed as a high-end game playing unit

btw i Talked To "Elvis' The sales guy and he helped walk me Thru some re-configuring

so i Think This will now be more suitable for what i want for 3d cg rendering efforts

still 32 bit mode but 64 bit OS upgrades are available whenever Vista is released by MS

'Elvis' is in THE HOUSE!!

Also make sure to check...

http://www.hot-deals.org

and

http://www.bensbargains.net

Because of vista's delays, oems are going to be falling over one another to dump excess stock this xmas season, and the deals are going to start HEAVILY pouring in this and next month. 30% dell coupons have already been floating around. I won't be surprised if they drop the 50% one soon.
