Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 / 1.66 GHz equal to single Intel 3.32 GHz?

It doesn't correlate one-to-one. First, a Core2 Duo has a much more efficient pipeline architecture than a Pentium4 or a P4-equivalent Xeon, so its value in GHz is worth more. In a regular Core Duo, you could get an approximation by multiplying by 1.7, but the Core2 Duo is even faster and I'm not sure what the multiplier would be now. If I had to guess I'd say, ballpark figure, 1.8, which would mean that each core of a Core2 Duo is very roughly equivalent to a P4 3GHz.

Since this is a dual-core chip, you'd actually be getting the equivalent of a dual-CPU 3GHz P4-equivalent system. In very well multithreaded apps, like most renderers, you'd see a speed about equal to 6GHz of P4, but in apps that are not multithreaded you'd only be getting the 3GHz.
