Scott Schroeder
Hey all this is quick model of my bathroom. I wanted to do something small that I could test out Mental Ray on. I'm getting very strong highlights on my bathtub walls, floor and on the toilet as circled in red on the first image. Regardless of what I do in my materials or in Mental Ray I always get them. The only way I found to stop it is by not using a off white material as in the second image. So any help would be swell. I'm well aware of the image quality, I'm doing these on a p3 500 so I gotta save time for test rendereings. Also I'm sure if I crank up the photons and rendering quality that will eliminate the splotchy shadows on the shower curtain, right? Also the mirror will be reflecting, I just dont have it turned on to save time. This is merely about my lighting issues. My settings are: GI is off Final Gather using 100 samples, just to test things. For my Global Light settings I have Energy at 100, Decay at 1.5 Caustic Photons at 10,000 GI Photons at 15,000 So the basic question is how can I turn down the strong highlights on a material that has a decent amount of specularity and also is mostly white in color such as bathroom tile or porcelin?
