Jefferson Grigsby
I am trying to use the hair and fur modifier in a scene I am rendering with mental ray. If I uses the default settings and "buffer" in the effect dialogue, the hair just renders black in mental ray. If I set it to a MR primitive, and use a mental ray material to shade the hair, the hair always renders white, regardless of what material I apply to it. The geometry emitter itself will show the color if the material, but the hair and fur itself just renders as white. Any help would be appreciated. thanks
pixelperfectg
I've attached two files for you to explore, one using the mr_prim, the other using geometry. Both have assigned materials. More info here that might be useful: http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=425634 Jeff
Jefferson Grigsby
thanks, was not linking the shader into the interface, yet assigining through the material editor.
nisus
thanks, was not linking the shader into the interface, yet assigining through the material editor. What does this mean? What do you mean? nisus
pixelperfectg
It means he wasn't using the built in material map slot on the hair, but trying to apply a material from the MEDIT directly to the hair instead.
