Aaron2004
Hello all, I am currently presenting videos on DVDs in our sales center. The play all day long and the DVD players burn out after a while. I am in need of an easy fix...possibly a sold state video player akin to the IPOD...but it has to have a pretty good resolution (some will be on flat panel TVs)...and it has to be run by old ladies who hate technology. (So no PCs) Thanks! Aaron
Greg Hess
Try ripping the DVD's to the harddrive, then using either a mounting tool, or vlc/media player classic, to play the movies. This would remove the dvd player from the equation completely. Free dvd ripping software is... http://www.filehippo.com/download_dvdshrink/ VLC http://www.filehippo.com/download_vlc/ Media Player Classic http://www.filehippo.com/download_media_player_classic/ I have a good mounting tool at home I'll try to post later. ShaunDon
Greg, I think he's looking for a replacement solution for a console DVD player, not a DVD played on a computer. I can only add that the iPod in its current state won't suffice as the video resolution is about half DVD quality. It looks great on a 2.5" LCD, but on a plasma TV it would be terrible. Anyone else know a good portable digital video player? Shaun
BrianKitts
Why don't you just get a standard DVR harddrive recorder. (spawned from TiVo) record your dvd's to the harddrive and playback at will. I'm not sure if you can set them to play in a loop or not, but it's a step in the right direction from what it sound like you're after.
Koper
xbox, ps2, wii, then, in the evening you can hook it up and play some games sorry Aaron best probably would be to get a tv with a wireless network adaptor and play the dvd from a pc. most new tv's today come out with a network port. Aaron2004
Eh....Thanks for all of the help guys...It pretty much has to be a set-top item with...like minimal buttons. Your grandma has to run this thing. So far, it looks like some type of portable media player. Aaron
