sedus69
I just try to do in interior Scene, very Simple model, except for celling. I use basic map, and very simple illumination Ambient light 1.0 light blue + 1 Sun 1.0 light yellow First Bounce IRR MAp High 10/35 Secondary Bounce LC 1000 After many tries I stil don't get good shadows, and don't really succed to have a better contrast Except using Photoshop. And don't know what parameter to tweak to get clean "checkers" (sorry for my english) I post 3dsmax File (8.0 Vray 1.5rc2) original image from VFB and Post processed image VFB + AO. Please Help me learning those parameters. Link to 3dsmax file i think i forgot some attachment....

erickdt
Are you using V-Ray shadows? If so post you settings.
Ricardo Eloy
I can't download your file right now (I'm not home), but... You IrrMap settings seem to be the problem. When you say "high 10/35" you mean Hemispheric Subdivs = 10? If so, try increasing that back to 50 and see what you get. It'll take a tad longer to render, but might be the cause of your not-so-fine shadows.
BrianKitts
i would lose the ambient light.... you've got enough openings to bounce plenty of daylight into your scene. I'm starting to find that the more you rely on your GI and use less lights you end up with better results and definately faster render times. rimshot
id stick with GI and loose the ambient..i think those openings will work perfectly with this lighting setup..maybe a couple of vray light planes on the windows openings, if you really wanna add in shadows, id suggest a single direct target light with vray shadows enabled.. IRR = high LC = 1000 hope this helps, cheers

I know Hemispheric Subdivs is quite low, but I tried to follow the "Valdo FlipSide Tutorial" so I modify the rQMC multiplier from 1 to 16, so I reduce the HsPh Subdiviser. Rendering time is "fast" les then 10 Min on my C2D6600@3.3 Ghz 1024*650px. I'll test with more HSubs.
