CookiE
How do other ppl make there renders with real grass look? Do you use Displacement or modeled grass? I am trying to get a nice scene with grass climbing up the edges of my pathments etc and the only way i know how to do this is scatter huge amounts of grass blades with a rotation transform. But this puts 1000's apon 1000's of polygons in the scene and massivly kills rendering time let alone if i was to vray it...
Arnold Sher
vray displacement... If you search this forum i am sure you can find a tutorial on it... I remember seeing one...
gfa2
Vray fur also. The Vray displacement will get you grass that is basically standing staight up, while the fur can do grass and weeds that curve and hang different directions.

Thanks for the info but im wanting something in normal scan line max can you use these options without using the vray renderer?
gfa2
max has a hair and fur render effect built in, you could probably get that to do what you want.

Ricardo Eloy
You can, indeed, use Max's inbuilt Hair&Fur. It's a bit tricky to get grass to look right, but it has been improved for Max 9, so it probably got easier.
