nzjimmy2001
whenever i am modelling a slightly complex object, and move a vertice for example, the whole object completely disappears and reappears randomly. (or goes from smooth and highlights to wireframe) It makes it very hard to model anything... not impossible... but something i could do without. also if a rotate around an object in my viewport it also disappears, then reappears when i stop the rotate. kinda puts a strain on eyes. any ideas whats causing this? nzjimmy2001
Using a ATI Radeon Powercolor 9550 SE. Think I've read that these cards give you grief with Max now that I come to think of it.
Hazdaz
Are you sure you don't have clipping planes ON? Or is this in a perspective/camera view, and the objects are just passing front of and then behind the camera as you rotate the view?
nzjimmy2001
i'm silly... but i'm not THAT silly. its definitely just disappearing. its gets as bad as if i just pass my mouse over the gizmo the object will disappear and won't reappear till i minimise and then maximise the screen. odd behaviour. Joseph Petrino
Same problem with an ATI Radeon. I've just learned to live with it.
nzjimmy2001
yeah i've learnt to live with it too... but i think i should upgrade in the near future and that will be the last radeon i buy. why put up with it if you don't have to. glad to see i'm not the only one out there with this problem. Hazdaz
Good olde ATi drivers strike again. I actually have gotten that issue on the work PC (which has an ATi card), but I don't think I have gotten that issue on my home PC which runs Nvidia cards exclusively. Koper
see if you can tune in your ATi drivers to run with 3ds max. I have an ATi FireGL and within the driver settings you can choose which aplication you want it to be set up for such as, 3Ds max, Maya, Combustion, ect. another thing you might want to check is whether you have your adaptive degradation turned on and what settings it uses. Customize -> Vieport config. -> adaptive degradation. you press 'O' for adaptive degradation. (not zero)
