rpompeu
I visit CGArchitect for many years and I've never seen MicroStation in the News until this month that it appeared twice, am I wrong? Why is that? Do you guys think that just now they discovered its vizualization capabilities?
qwarto
hi roberto, i believe since version 5 of microstation(ms) it already has the capability to do visualizations using raytracing. but from what i read in the news over the last couple of years they are also trying to make it a capable renderer that can compete with the rest on top of microstation's superior modeling tools. check this site of what ms can do http://www.richardwoolsgrove.com/cad/pagePhotoCatList.php?pid=1&cat_id=
Jeff Mottle
The PR department at Bentley does not send us anything normally, so we don't know when there is news. I'll get in touch with them next week to try and remedy this. Thanks for the feedback.
angelo
Microstation is very powerful and has a broad spectrum of tools, but as the most recent AEC Bytes review has stated, it's just too complex for jumping in and being able to "run with it". For 3D modeling, it's better than most CAD stuff out there, but for BIM, it suffers from what ADT does: globbing intelligent objects on top of a massive legacy 2D/3D code base isn't efficient and limits the programs capabilities. ArchiCAD may be a little long in the tooth, and Revit is still a little rough around the edges, but they still handle intelligent modeling very well, and IMHO much better. rpompeu
Hi, Thanks for the reply Jeff. Angelo and Qwarto, thanks for the posts, but I know the visualization power of MicroStation, I'm a MicroStation user since the version SE. In my website you can see some of my works, all made just with MicroStation and Photoshop. panoramad.com.br I just got surprised when I saw Bentley in the CGArchitect news, because I visit here since ever (I submitted Bentley website in the links here, back in 2002) and have never seen it on the news before. Thanks!
coca
Hi rpompeu, I am new here, and just read this thread, also went to your website have a look. your rendering is amazing and I just love the interior one called" lavado residencia unifamiliar." just kindly ask what kind of softwares did you used in this rednering? is it microstation+photoshop ? possible so good result? amazing rendering:rolleyes:
rpompeu
Hi Coca, Thanks for the compliments! Yes, all images there are just Microstation and Photoshop. I've been trying others softwares but they all seem so hard to learn in comparison to microstation... As you saw, microstation has a good rendering power, you just have to learn well how to use it. best regards
coca
awesome rpompeu! i will download it and try to learn it. need in indeed in my coming architectural year study, need clean and clear rendering to supporting my design idea. and the university computer lab provides microstation too~ ask you something more: can i make model in microstation? or it just a rendering software? ( yeah i know i should just go to check it out from the web, but just want to ask you for some ideas ) mucho gracias
rpompeu
Yes, you can model in it, in MS you can do anything you do in AutoCAD and even more. P.S.: In Brazil we speak Portuguese, not Spanish, so instead of "muchas gracias" you should use "muito obrigado".
